Biomass Material Preparation

Various biomass materials can be used as raw material for biomass gasification system to produce syngas, and then the syngas is used for power generation.

Before using biomass materials for gasification, preparation shall be required to make the biomass materials suitable for gasification and achieve good gasification performace.

General requirements for biomass material preparation are: sizing and drying.

Sizing: make biomass materials into uniform size less than 60mm

Drying: dry the biomass materials to humidity less than 25%

For sizing, crusher or shredder can be used.

For Drying, rotary dryer is normally used. Rotary dryer is reliable in operation and has big handling capacity.

Rotary dryer mainly consists of rotary dryer body, lifting plate, transmission device, support device, sealing device and heat source system. The dryer is a slightly inclined rotary with the horizontal direction, and the material is added from the higher end, and the high temperature hot gas and the material flow into the rotary body, with the rotation of the body, the material runs to the lower end due to gravity. The inner wall of rotary dryer body is equipped with a sheet to sprinkle the material, so that contact surface between the material and the air flow is increased to improve the drying efficiency.

The dried material is collected from the lower part of the rotary dryer.
